The Nominating Committee is seeking a slate of strong and engaged candidates for the 2025 board elections. Members may run for any position. If you are not a member, apply for membership here.

Board Criteria:

• Candidates should have skills related to the office, ability to work within a group, and a desire to serve the community
• We seek a board which represents the diverse New Mexico community

Board Goals & Responsibilities:

• Maintain the business and administrative responsibilities of the organization
• Facilitate the production of NMLL events

Purpose:

The primary purpose of the League is to provide service to the community by providing a resource foundation for individuals and organizations to learn, meet like-minded individuals, and provide a safe space for self-expression of the BDsM experience.

Board Positions and Duties (from the bylaws):

All members of the Board of Directors shall:
– Be a consistent and recognized face of NMLL and represent NMLL in the leather/kink/alternative community at large;
– Support the mission and vision of NMLL in word and action;
– May be one of the required three (3) signatories on the bank account;
– Assume all other duties normally associated with their office or assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors not inconsistent with these Bylaws;
– Attend Board meetings and general meetings.

Co-Chairs:
– Attend and preside at all Board and General meetings;
– Act as the spokespersons and contract agents of NMLL, subject to guidelines established by the policies and procedures of the organization;
– Appoint Committee Chairpersons and members for standing and temporary committees;
– Call special meetings as deemed necessary;
– Enforce or reassign implementation of resolutions, plans of action, or other corporate activities;
– Oversee all committees and programs of NMLL.

Secretary:
– Attend and record minutes of all NMLL Board and meetings or obtain someone to take them in absence of the secretary;
– Keep the seal of NMLL in safe custody and affix it to such papers and instruments as may be required in the regular course of business;
– Supervise the keeping of all records of NMLL, prepare and submit all reports as required by law or the Board of Directors, and will have such other powers and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors;
– Maintain a current roster of Officers, Board of Directors, Members, and Member Organizations.
– Give or cause to be given notice of all meetings of NMLL and the Board of Directors required by these Bylaws;
– Conduct any necessary correspondence and to take minutes as required.

Treasurer:
– Receive and safely keep all funds of NMLL and deposit them in the NMLL account;
– Be a signatory on the checks of NMLL or other financial documents as needed;
– Supervise the keeping of all financial records of NMLL, prepare and submit all financial reports as required by law or the Board of Directors;
– Attend and present a financial report at all meetings of NMLL including Board of Directors and Annual meetings.

Event Coordinator:
– Oversee NMLL event management;
– Advise and support event committee heads in their responsibilities;
– Work in tandem with the treasurer to form budgets and allocate funds as needed;
– Support outreach between NMLL members and the community at large.

Community Liaison:
– Manage NMLL social media accounts and event publicity;
– Foster relationships with other community organizers and support outreach between NMLL members and the community at large;
– Create and maintain a network of regional community liaisons.
