Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! NMLL is an all volunteer organization. Without community members offering their help, these events simply would not happen. Volunteers help the events run smoothly and ensure the safety of all who attend. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and to give back.
Volunteering is a commitment to the event and should be taken seriously. Our team relies on volunteers to show up for their shifts and handle the job they signed up for. We make sure that our volunteers know what is expected of them and who to contact in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Every position is important to the event. Our volunteers are an integral part of the team, representing NMLL in all that they say and do at the event. NMLL expects that volunteers will follow the rules that all attendees agree to abide by and behave in a manner that demonstrates respect for themselves, for others, for the organization, and for the event.
Discounted volunteer event ticket rates are $40 for an 8 hour commitment and $65 for 4 hours.
Remember, emails must be responded to in a timely manner. The the volunteer shifts you agree to aren’t guaranteed until you’ve registered and paid for them. If you need a little time to register please let the volunteer coordinator know.
Volunteer T-shirts
This year, in appreciation, NMLL is gifting an exclusive t-shirt to the volunteers who would like one. You can indicate size on registration form form. Due to ordering & shipping time required, volunteers must be registered by October 1, to receive a complementary volunteer t-shirt.
Volunteer Positions Available
Please indicate your preferences on the volunteer request form.
Registration
Registration volunteers are the friendly, organized, and efficient first faces that attendees will see when they arrive. These volunteers will ensure that all paper work is filled out properly, identification is checked, money collected, and attendees given wrist bands. Registration sometimes gets busy, so being able to remain friendly and calm during high traffic times is important.
Class Monitors
These volunteers make sure our presenters have what they need. A monitor will meet with the presenter of each class to see if they have everything they need, including water. They will also be the time keepers, making sure the presenters know how much time they have left, and will distribute and collect class review forms.
Greeters/Door Monitors/Security
Dungeon Monitors
Dungeon monitors make sure that people are being safe while in our dungeon. They should have knowledge of what to keep an eye out for and be able to intervene in a respectful way if needed. DM Training course, experience, first aid training and CPR certifications are a plus. All hours are evening and late night.
First Aid Crew
These volunteers staff the dungeon and manage the first aid station. First Aiders provide back up in case of injury or illness. They don’t take the place of EMS or medical care. First aid training is necessary. CPR certification, experienced EMT, Medic or other healthcare professionals are preferred. All hours are evening and late night.
Equipment Loading and Transport
Have a strong back and don’t mind hard work? We can use your help! Loading and transport are needed to and from the storage area to the hotel both before and after the event: Friday from 11 am- 1 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm – 3 pm. You can volunteer for one or both.
Set-up/Tear-down Crew
These volunteers help in transitioning our spaces throughout the event. This includes setting up for dungeon parties, classes, and shows. We also need help at the end of the event to help pack up everything to move out of the hotel on time. This position is important to help us stay on schedule. The more people we have, the faster and easier it is. Most set up and tear down work happens Friday from 1 pm – 5 pm, and Sunday from 11 am – 1 pm.
Bag Check
These volunteers staff our bag check table near the entrance of the dungeon. This includes tagging bags and containers that are submitted to the bag check table, providing corresponding tickets to the owners of the bags, and retrieving the bags for owners at their request. Bag check volunteer shifts take place during the evening and late night.
Bootblack
Are you a bootblack? Get your shine on and provide service to the community with your special skills. Bring your supplies, keep your tips. We have bootblack stands and hours available Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday day and evening. Work as little or as much as you desire. Four or eight hours of service gets you a volunteer discount! Sign up soon for the best chance to get the shifts you want. Experience required.
Floaters/As Needed
Like surprises? This may be the job for you! Float staff are flexible and confident, filling in as needed, for a variety of possible positions during their scheduled shift. This position helps us make sure all bases are covered at the event.
